Optimising SME personnel selection and development

Developing professional and innovative tools for selecting and developing employees

Optimisation of the personnel selection process

In this project, requirements analyses were first used to determine the skills relevant to the SME. Two well-founded selection tools were developed on this basis:

A multimodal interview with a focus on situational and biographical question formats orientated towards the previously identified competencies. The measurement of cognitive abilities was also integrated into the interview procedure, which is a new type of aptitude diagnostic approach.

A work trial procedure with a standardised observation sheet, with which the defined competencies are observed and then assessed. A final overall assessment across both procedures enables a requirements-orientated evaluation and an optimal comparison of the applicants.

      Procedure for 360-degree feedback

In a second part of the project, a procedure for 360-degree feedback was developed, which in turn is based on the previously defined competences. The self-assessment and external assessment allow existing potential and areas for development to be identified in a differentiated manner. This provides an optimal basis for further personnel development measures.

      Impact

The new personnel selection and development process, which is tailored to the individual needs and circumstances of the SME, enables the targeted recruitment of talented employees who are of interest to the company and the subsequent development of these employees.
